Modern Slavery Statement

Croydon Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Croydon Man and Van to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to act ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implement and enforce effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Croydon Man and Van operates as a local removals and transport service, providing moving, collection, and delivery solutions to domestic and commercial customers. Our supply chains include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, uniform and workwear providers, and various professional and support services.

We understand that modern slavery can occur in any sector or country and may be present in lower tiers of supply chains where visibility is more limited. We are committed to improving our understanding of potential risks and taking proportionate steps to address them.

Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery

We maintain a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, servitude, debt bondage, compulsory labour, and human trafficking. Croydon Man and Van will not knowingly work with any organisation that engages in, or is complicit in, such practices.

Our zero-tolerance stance is communicated to all employees, workers, and suppliers. Any breach of this policy by employees may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Any breach by suppliers or contractors may result in suspension or termination of the business relationship.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We expect all current and prospective suppliers to uphold high standards of labour and human rights. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management processes, we seek assurances that suppliers comply with relevant labour laws, operate fair and safe working practices, and do not tolerate modern slavery within their organisations or supply chains.

Where appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk, we conduct checks and audits of selected suppliers. These may include requesting documentation on labour practices, reviewing policies and procedures, and asking for confirmation of due diligence processes applied further down their supply chains. If we identify areas of concern, we may require corrective actions, closer monitoring, or the reassessment of our relationship with that supplier.

Employee Awareness and Responsibilities

All staff are expected to contribute to the detection and prevention of modern slavery. We promote awareness of the signs of exploitation, such as restriction of movement, withholding of identity documents, or clear signs of coercion and intimidation.

Managers have a responsibility to remain alert to any indicators of modern slavery in our operations and among suppliers or subcontractors. They are expected to escalate concerns promptly in line with our reporting procedures.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Croydon Man and Van encourages anyone who has concerns or suspicions about modern slavery connected with our business or supply chains to report these immediately. Concerns can be raised with line management or through our internal reporting channels. Reports may be made in confidence and will be treated seriously, sensitively, and without retaliation.

All reports will be investigated promptly and, where required, appropriate action will be taken. This may include engaging with suppliers to seek clarification, requesting corrective measures, suspending activities, or ending contractual relationships. Where criminal activity is suspected, we will consider notifying the relevant authorities.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process. Croydon Man and Van is committed to continuous improvement in our approach, including reviewing and strengthening our policies, risk assessments, and supplier engagement practices.

This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by our management team to assess its effectiveness and to reflect any changes in legislation, business operations, or best practice guidance. Updated versions of the statement will replace previous iterations and will guide our future actions in preventing modern slavery and human trafficking.

This statement reflects the position of Croydon Man and Van for the current financial year and has been approved by the company’s management.
